We are asking those who are passionate about raising awareness of oral health and wellbeing to get involved and help make a difference to the awareness of mouth cancer.
Either organise an event yourself for people in your local community, take part in somebody else’s event, or just support the cause by donating.
You don’t have to setup a walking event, you can swim it, cycle it, run it, dance it, hop it or even bounce it. Any way you want to just move it and have fun doing it.
The main aims of the campaign are:
- To increase awareness of mouth cancer.
- To increase awareness about the importance of good oral health and hygiene, and the links towards general health.
- To increase awareness of dental hygienists and therapists and their role within the dental team.
Every year, more than 7,500 people in the United Kingdom are diagnosed with mouth cancer, with more losing their life to the disease than testicular and cervical cancer combined, yet public awareness remains worryingly low.
By taking part in Moveit4smiles, we are not only aiming to raise money for these fantastic charities in the Oral Health Foundation and Mouth Cancer Action, we are also raising awareness of the causes and signs of this terrible disease.
What’s the furthest you’ve ever gone for charity? Get moving for mouth cancer and support our campaign. Your involvement really can make a difference and potentially save lives.
